Over the course of the past few months most doctoral candidates have finished their first of two planned secondments at other project partners. The secondments are part of the training programme and take around 1 month to complete. It helps the DCs to gain a broader technical knowledge and also to develop valuable soft skills by staying with different project partners in different countries.
Already in May the doctoral candidates Shaheer Ul Hassan, Mazahir Shah and Akbar Mohammadi Ajamloo did their secondments at University of Ghent, Leibniz University of Hannover and VTT respectively.

After the project meeting and workshops in Ghent in September, doctoral candidate Hadish Tesfamikael stayed in Belgium for his secondment at DANA in Bruges. As part of his secondment he presented some of his research to the DANA engineers.

The two doctoral candidates employed in Germany did their secondments in November. Yitbarek Tedla went to Added Scientific Ltd in Nottingham and Siddique Akbar travelled to VTT in Finland. Mr. Tedla had the opportunity to use the 3D printing capabilities which contributes to his research on 3D-structured transposed conductors.

In November 2025, several Doctoral Candidates did their Secondments at the University of Nottingham. During this period, Yitbarek Tedla, Shaheer Ul Hassan and Mohamed Reda Mahmoud visited the Centre for Additive Manufacturing. Together with Mazahir Shah, they also went to the Power Electronics and Machines Centre.
